Carlos Puma’s approach to photography is simple: Telling people stories visually.

He does this creatively and honestly through the use of light, composition and story-telling moments. Whether photographing a major event such as the NBA Finals, or whether he's taking a portrait, photographing a wedding or one of his personal documentary projects, his approach is the same.

Five years as a photographer in the U.S. Navy, nine years as staff photographer for The Press-Enterprise newspaper in Riverside, and freelance work for the Los Angeles and New York Times has given him the experience to photograph any event.

Puma is the winner of many photojournalism awards, including a World Press Photo award in 2001.

The images on this site are a small selection of his body of work. If you are interested in seeing more images in any of the genres on this site, please call or send an e-mail.
